A fun hanger that is not exactly what you think it is!
The Tupac Hanger is a contemporary and very simple piece but also extremely versatile and upbeat, that can turn the simple act of hanging a coat into a playful one. Ita has a very urban feel to it, greeting everyone humorously. Tupac came to be as a merge of two current investigations the development of objects that move people, that somehow make us laugh and interect on a emotional level with the things around us and the growing need to better use all that is left or thrown away from the wood working business, to transform scrap into design. As such, the final object is a deconstruction of wood itslef, often regarded as a very stiff and austere material that here is present in a more fluid way, with great movement, that only reaches its full potential once touched by someone
The body of Tupac is made of 20mm plywood scraps, with precise cuts that garantee both the flexibility and strength of the piece. To reinforce the back and the front, they are covered with a colored laminate. The sides are left untouched, just sanded and lightly varnished, showwing the beautiful layers of the plywood. The whole thing is easily assemble with a couple of screws.
The creation of Tupac is driven by the fact that we need to produce greener products, both in production and use but, more importantly, that we need to relate to objects on a deeper level to make them last longer, to not feel they are disposable.
Reccently, Tupac was a finalist in the Salão Design Competiition, and winner if the Objeto Brasil Competition, earning a Gold Medal.
