Rafael Studart, born in Fortaleza, Brazil (1983), is an architect and designer, with an architecture degree from Universidade Federal do Ceara and an ongoing post-graduate degree in Graphic Design from Uni7.
Beginning in 2006, Rafael heads an architecture and interior design firm through 2014 when the firm rebrands itself as Tarugo Design and pivots to work mainly with furniture and product design after a brief period of studies in IED Milan. With a surge of commissions in various analog design fields, such as expography, scenography, typography, and installations, the need for a more wide-ranging approach becomes evident, thus is born the Rafael Studart Design Studio.
Rafael’s work aims to potentialize the integration of all cited design areas, bringing together elements of popular culture, vernacular architecture, urban chaos, art galleries and many other apparently disconnected references as a way to enrich the creative process and generate astonishing results, through the sum of technical prowess and well constructed narratives.
The fruit of this relentless research process is unquestionably rich, having been exhibited in prestigious national and international institutions such as the Museum of Art and Design (NY), Museo Amparo (México) and Museu Oscar Niemeyer (Curitiba), and being granted numerous awards: Winner Objeto Brasil (2016), Winner Bornancini (2018), Winner by Popular Choice Brasil Design Awards 2018, 2nd Place Museu da Casa Brasileira (2018), amongst others.
